Schola Antiqua's latest album explores the liturgical sequences of the famous monk, Notker of St. Gall. Working from a new editions by its founding artistic director Calvin Bower, both soloists and small subsets of singers combine to deliver an extraordinary form of medieval poetry that communicated the gesture and accent of melodies that had no words.
This recording is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
